Heat Pump Benefits

Benefits of Installing a Heat Pump

If you’re thinking about purchasing a new HVAC unit for your home or business, you should consider a heat pump. For many of our customers, they are the perfect alternative to a traditional HVAC unit. Heat pump benefits include the fact that they can heat and cool your home, not simply one or the other. They can be gas or electric powered, but electric-powered heat pumps are definitely the most popular. Many of our Atlanta-area customers have found that a heat pump perfectly meets their heating and cooling needs.

Before you decide to purchase a heat pump for your home, it’s important to consider the benefits of this system. We’ve put together this short list of benefits to help you decide if a heat pump is right for you.

  • Better Air Quality. Unlike most other heaters, heat pumps won’t dry the air out. This will keep you from having to run a humidifier just to stay comfortable.
  • Save $$$. Heat pumps can also help save you money each month on your bills. These systems are more energy-efficient than other HVAC units, which means they need less energy to run.
  • Increase Property Value. Since they’ve become highly-coveted in the Atlanta area, having a heat pump can increase your property value.
  • Better for Environment. Heat pumps do not rely on combustion, unlike traditional heating systems. This means they are more environmentally-friendly than their counterparts.

Heating and Cooling Installation

Installing a heat pump in your home or business could be the best HVAC-related choice you make. They can save you money every month and they are better for the environment. Furthermore, they can increase the value of your property and not dry out your air during the wintertime.

HVAC UV Lights for Your Home

HVAC UV Lights Kill Off Bacteria and Germs

Concerned with the germs, allergens and bacteria that are floating around your home? Does your indoor air quality (IAQ) always get worse during the cooler months? If you’re on a mission to improve the air quality inside your home, consider installing a UV light. HVAC UV lights can kill off bacteria, germs, and several other harmful particulates before can they enter your home.

All our clients want to know that HVAC UV lights actually work before they have them installed. We’re here to provide you with evidence supporting UV lights, show you what’s available, and what their benefits are.

Scientific Support for HVAC UV Lamps

The effectiveness of UV lights and their uses have been studied for decades. Studies show that UV lights can successfully kill off bacteria and other germs. UV lights have been used to kill off harmful viruses, mold and bacteria for well over 100 years. Hospitals, hotels, restaurants, airlines and more continue to use them to sterilize equipment and the air you breathe.

Regarding UV lights and HVAC systems, this study provides evidence supporting their use to kill a variety of airborne particulates. These studies are 2 of many. When you install an HVAC UV light, you can rest-assured they will improve the quality of your home’s air.

Who Should Use Ultraviolet Lights?

Everyone can reap the benefits of using HVAC UV lights; some individuals more than others. If you have a compromised immune system or suffer from COPD, asthma or allergies, you should consider installing UV lights.

Residential UV Lamps

All residential HVAC systems either use coil cleaning UV lights or air cleaning UV lights. There are several different terms that companies use to describe these lights: sterilizing, sanitizing, purifying, etc. But, all residential HVAC UV lights fall into one of these two categories.

Air Cleaning HVAC Lights

Air purifying UV lights only turn on when your HVAC kicks on. They are designed to kill bacteria and other particulates that are in the air before they enter your home. These lights are housed within your home’s air ducts.

Coil Cleaning HVAC UV Lights

Coil purifying lights, on the other hand, are always on. They are housed near your indoor evaporator coil and focus on keeping your HVAC’s coils free of bacteria and mold. This is the type of HVAC UV light that most homeowners choose.

More Benefits to Using UV Lights

Other than improving your home’s IAQ, UV lights have several other benefits. They can increase your energy-efficiency, lower your energy bills, make your air fresher and improve your home’s airflow.

Should you get maintenance on your HVAC System

Schedule Heating and Cooling Maintenance

The Neese team strongly encourages our clients to adhere to an HVAC maintenance schedule. By having semi-annual maintenance performed on your system, you can make it last much longer. You can also make sure your system is in good shape ahead of the winter and summer months.

There are several reasons why we suggest HVAC maintenance, but some are certainly worth highlighting here. We’ve put together this list of the biggest reasons why you should have your HVAC system routinely serviced.

Benefits of Routine HVAC Maintenance

  • Guaranteed Comfort. If your HVAC system isn’t properly maintained, it will have a hard keeping your home’s temperatures and humidity right where you want it. When your system is properly serviced, it’ll heat/cool your home better. This means you and your family will enjoy year-round comfort at home.
  • Improved Air Quality. Routine HVAC maintenance can also help you breathe better. During a maintenance appointment, your tech will examine and clean/replace the air filter. They will also check to see if there are any issues with the filter compartment. These checks and tasks will make sure your system filters out dirt, dust, and allergens before they enter your home.
  • Safety First. When a system isn’t properly maintained, it can become hazardous to operate. During your maintenance appointment, we’ll perform the checks and tasks necessary to keep you and your family safe.
  • Money Savings. Having your system routinely serviced can save you money in three primary ways:
    • Longer Lifespan. Well-serviced systems undergo less wear and tear, meaning they’ll last longer.
    • Fewer Major Repairs. We’ll look for and fix issues while they’re still small. When we can catch problems early, we can save you money on costly repairs.
    • Lower Your Bills. Healthy HVAC systems are also much more energy efficient. This, in turn, will lower your energy bills. During your appointment, we will:
      • Lubricate all moving parts
      • Test the system’s airflow
      • Examine your ductwork
      • Clean or change the air filter
      • Tighten all loose connections
      • Test your thermostat’s calibration
      • Test your system’s controls

Should you get HEPA Air-Filters for your Home

HEPA Filters – A Sensible Solution to Indoor Air Quality Issues

Much like outdoor pollution, indoor pollution can damage your health. Depending on your individual situation, the air inside your home can actually be worse than the air outside. Some of the worst indoor pollutants include smoke, mold spores, pollen, cleaning solutions and also animal dander. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) even includes indoor air pollution on their list of the Top-5 environment-related health risks. As a homeowner, you can resolve most indoor air quality issues by installing an air filter. Neese highly recommends installing a HEPA filter. These high-quality filters are capable of filtering both large and also microscopic particles and they’re a sensible solution to IAQ issues.

Before Purchasing a HEPA Filter for Your Home

  • Check the Size. HVAC systems require specific air filters and it’s vitally important that you purchase the correct size. If it doesn’t fit properly, it won’t be able to filter all the air before it enters your home.
  • Check the Quality. Did you know HEPA air filters are made up of three parts that balance each other to function correctly? Most filters are unbalanced. This makes it impossible for them to capture pollutants before they enter your home. Give Neese a call. We can provide some suggestions and also help you steer clear of low-quality filters.
  • Check Your HVAC. If your ducts leak or your filter slot isn’t sealed properly, they can also let unfiltered air into your home. If you’re ready to address your home’s indoor air quality, give us a call. We can inspect your air filter slot and ducts and ensure they are aren’t letting unfiltered air in.
Contact Neese Today

The Neese’ team is here to help with all your IAQ needs. We can help you select the right HEPA air filter for your system and provide information on other IAQ solutions. Contact Neese today to get started.

Do you Need an HVAC System Replacement?

Atlanta Heating and Cooling Replacements

Here in the Atlanta metro area, we know it’s important to keep our HVAC systems fully operational all-year-long. They keep us cool and dry throughout the summer and they keep the cold at bay throughout the winter. We also know that, unfortunately, these complex systems don’t last forever. At some point in the future, you’ll need to replace your heating and air system. Although you may not know when to replace your system, your friends at Neese can help. If any of these symptoms ring a bell, you should prepare to replace your HVAC system.

When to Replace Your HVAC System

  1. Persistent Issues – If it seems like your system is always breaking down, you should consider replacing it. As heating and cooling systems age, they will need repairs much more often.
  2. Over 10 Years Old – If your HVAC system is 10 years old, or older, you need to prepare to replace it. Systems don’t last more than 15-20 years, and it’ll require more costly repairs as it ages.
  3. Major System Failures – If your HVAC has a major system failure, like a faulty motor or compressor – consider replacing it. It is often more cost-effective to replace an HVAC system than to repair major system failures.
  4. Suddenly Very Noisy –If your system makes loud noises (knocking, banging grinding, etc.), contact Neese right away. Sounds like this can point to major issues with your heating and cooling system. We can help you decide if repairing or replacing your unit is best for you.
  5. Always Running – Your AC and heater shouldn’t run constantly. If they do, your system or unit might need to be replaced. Old, worn-out systems have to work much harder to keep your home at the ideal temperature.
  6. You’re Simply Not Comfortable – If your home’s HVAC simply can’t keep you comfortable, you might want to replace it. Almost all airflow, humidity and inconsistent temperature issues can be remedied with an HVAC upgrade.

Install a Carrier Infinity HVAC System

If you’re ready to replace your home’s HVAC, we suggest you consider a Carrier Infinity system. This top-of-the-line heating and cooling system have an extensive range of capabilities. The system is energy-efficient and also includes highly-advanced communication capabilities. With the Carrier Infinity system, you’ll be able to control the temperature, humidity, air quality, fan speed, and also much more. Should you get a Programmable Thermostat for your Home

Benefits of Installing a Programmable Thermostat

Programmable thermostats have become increasingly popular in Atlanta-area households over the past couple of decades. Homeowners all over Georgia have been discovering the numerous benefits programmable thermostats offer them and also their families. Are you primarily focused on saving money every month? Or you’re determined to improve your family’s comfort? If so there are several reasons why installing a programmable thermostat can benefit you.

6 Reasons to Install a Programmable Thermostat in Your Home

  1. Monthly Savings. Simply put, programmable thermostats have the potential to save you a lot of money over time. Think about it this way; If you’re able to raise the temp in your home by 1 degree in the summer or also lower it by 1 degree in the winter, you can save around 2% on your energy bill. If you’re able to use a programmable thermostat to raise or also lower the temperature by more than 1 degree (when you’re at work or away on vacation, or even while you’re asleep) you can save even more. Over time, the savings can really add up.
  2. Leverage Modern Technology. Modern programmable thermostats are even more advanced than you may think. These days, many programmable thermostats give homeowners the ability to manage their entire HVAC system through a smartphone application. In addition, some top-of-the-line models even have the ability to alert you to system malfunction.
  3. Reliable Temperatures. Programmable thermostats can reliably manage your home’s climate. Your programmable thermostat can easily determine the ideal time to activate the air conditioner or heater to keep temperatures exactly where you want them. You’ll never have to spend time running back and forth to the thermostat to make sure you and your family are comfortable.
  4. Coordinate Multiple Climate Zones. If your home has multiple climate zones, programmable thermostats can help you properly manage these zones.
  5. Increase the Lifespan of Your System. Since programmable thermostats help older and also newer HVAC systems run more efficiently, they can effectively extend their lifespan.
  6. Increase Your Energy Efficiency. Finally, programmable thermostats will increase your home’s energy efficiency by optimizing your heating and also your cooling system. This is good for your budget and the environment.
Contact Neese Today!

If you’re trying to decide if a programmable thermostat is right for you, give your friends at Neese a call. We strongly feel that the majority of homeowners can benefit from installing a programmable thermostat since they can extend the life of your system and also save you money at the same time. *****2025 Spring Update*****Neese Heating and Air was back at it today for my annual spring maintenance tune-up and service. You just can beat the quality service from Neese H & A, especially from Mike Torney our service tech. Just as he was getting into cleaning the outdoor units the skies opened up. Working between the rain drops Mike forged on and got the job done. To top things off the power went out for about 5 minutes. But all was good. Dedication, knowledge, and efficiency are the hallmarks of great people who are at the heart of a great company. We're set until our winter service.*****2024 Fall Update*****It was time for the Fall/Winter service check and units still going strong. Can't say enough great things about this company and its people.Neese Jones installed my units when we built our home in 1994 and have maintained them for the past 26 years. They are still going strong today, probably because of the excellent care and attention of the service techs at Neese Jones. A special shoutout to Mike Torney who has been our service tech for the majority of these years and has provided nothing but the best service one can expect. Recommended by a neighbor for yearly maintenance. Called their office to get on their schedule. The lady in the office patiently answered all my questions and gave a thorough explanation of what services would be performed during the visit. They were able to come out, right away and they met all my expectations. They called 30 minutes ahead of time to tell me they were on their way. I signed a maintenance agreement but it’s not required. I highly recommend this company. They even wore shoe covers while inside our home. Thanks Russell and Steven for doing a great job.

I've used Neese for about 6 or 7 years now. Just had the routine maintenance done and it is always great to have the technician here to give me peace of mind. He checked the units outside and in the attic. Was clean, neat, efficient, gave me a great report. Very professional. I have them come twice per year to make sure all is working well. I, as well as hundreds, I was told, was without heat this past weekend, as the snow blew in. Neese came out same day. Russell, the technician, was professional, friendly, diagnosed and fixed the problem. I signed up for preventative maintenance with them! I would recommend. They were professional & I really appreciated the same-day service in a great time of need. Didn't feel like he was selling me a maintenance program; it was more of a suggestion. I want them to have my business.

Update, April 2025 - Jonathan serviced our HVAC systems this week and was very helpful in explaining where our older unit is in its anticipated lifespan and our options from there. Super polite, friendly guy. I always feel comfortable that I am getting good service and good advice from Neese Jones.Update, May 2023 - Zach serviced our HVAC systems last week and recommended two relatively minor fixes (cost-wise, anyway) to keep things working more effectively. He was back out this morning to make those fixes and also installed a thermostat base plate we bought to cover some unpainted/chewed up wall spots while he was here. Super nice, super smart guy. We always appreciate the information and options we get from the service techs. Still highly recommend Neese Jones! Our two, 16 year old water heaters (50 gal, gas) finally broke down and starting leaking everywhere - we noticed this on Sunday evening but it likely happened earlier in the weekend. Called Neese Jones Monday morning at 8:00 and they had the two new units delivered (thanks DJ Mike!) and installed (thanks Mike T and his - unfortunately name unknown - assistant!) that afternoon. Cindy W. in the office was so helpful and friendly. We have used Neese Jones for our HVAC maintenance and installation for almost 10 years and I have never had any complaints. Service is always easy to schedule, technicians are quick but thorough and neat, and always very nice!
